The most recognizable part of the Corvette logo

Although many changes in its design have occurred over the years, some of the main design characteristics remain. These are the checkered flags as well as the bow tie emblem. You might also notice something that looks like a maple leaf as well. This is a type of insignia. This does not always appear in the emblem.
The original

When the new emblem was redesigned it has on it the checkered flag and a white racing flag, as well as the red bow tie. The final version of the emblem that appeared on the 1953 Corvette held on it the checkered flag and then in the place of the American Flag was a Blue Bow which sat on a white flag.
