It is best if you are prepared prior to the disassembly of your Corvette.
Firstly, the restoration of the Corvette is somewhat different then a metal framed and bodied car. You might think you will not find any rust, but that is not the case. Typically the metal frame, transmission, or metal suspension possibly could be rusted.
Hopefully prior

Now that you are ready, you should go through the Corvette and be sure it is clean, both inside and out. Try to clean the grease out of the engine, remove remnants out of the chassis, transmissions, etc. After it is cleaned you should take photos of all the areas of the Corvette. Inside and out photos, get under the car and take photos, open the hood and take photos, you can never have too many. This way when you are done with the restoration, you can look back on how well of a job you did.
If this is your first restoration, be sure to mark each and every piece you remove. It might seem like a daunting task, however, you will know what each and every part is. Then you should place parts in boxes categorized by where they belong. Example – place transmission parts in a box label transmission.
Remember, that the key to making this restoration a success is organization.
