Corvette TPMS

First, let us explain what the TPMS stands for. TPMS is Tire Pressure Monitor/Monitoring System. This system was created to help deal with environmental issues.

For safety reasons, this is now a Federal Law that states any vehicle (new) that is fewer than 10K pounds must have the TPMS equipped.

Chevrolet uses a TPMS system that is quite similar to many other automobile companies. This is due to the fact that it is a very new technology and at the time not many manufactures that create these specific forms of devices.

Chevrolet uses a device which is not similar to many other companies. This device is mainly used on the Corvette. It is called the DIC, this stands for Driver Info Center. This device is located within the instrument panel. It will display messages like, battery voltage, low fuel, low oil, the trip odometer and even the important tire pressure. This device will let you know when your tire pressure has dropped or increased at twenty five percent of its proper pressure.

In order for this device to work properly and to diagnosis and update, your Corvette must travel for at least two minutes at speeds over twenty mph. This will happen every time you start up your Corvette. It will also update when you change tire settings, or even if you replace your tires.
